And the Winner is...

The LUCA Awards are the annual awards presented by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) to recognise outstanding achievement in the bookkeeping profession.  Often referred to as the "Oscars" of the bookkeeping world, the awards celebrate the top professionals, practices, and software vendors in the industry.

My practice has been nominated for eight and subsequently shortlisted for six Luca awards:

Small Practice of the Year in 2019, 2022, 2024 and 2025

Payroll Practitioner of the Year in 2024 and 2025.

I received a Highly Commended Award in 2019 as it was felt that Busby's deserved recognition despite not winning the Luca.

I am super proud that my practice has been continuously recognised within the industry.  The awards are entirely merit-based with nominations being anonymized before being evaluated by an independent panel of industry experts.

And just when I thought I was destined to always be the bridesmaid, I had the huge shock and honour in 2025 of winning the Luca for Payroll Practitioner of the Year.

It was an emotional moment as it was the culmination of years of hard work and dedication to my clients as well as being a moment I would have loved to have shared with my parents who had both been part of the inspiration behind the practice. 

With both of them having worked within finance in various guises, having run their own businesses throughout the latter years of their lives, it was no surprise not only that I would be a bookkeeper but that I would also start my own practice.  It would have made them so proud to have seen it.
